Where in the World is Thanet?

Thanet is in South East England (map) and used to be a real island. In Roman times, the mile wide Wansum Channel separated Thanet from the mainland. Although still technically an island, Thanet is now bordered by the River Stour to the south and the River Wansum to the west. The River Wansum is all that remains of the Wansum Channel and today is little more than a large drainage channel.

My Seismic Life

For nearly 14 years I worked on Seismic survey ships world wide. Most of the time it was just an office that moves more than most, but we also had our share of running from Hurricanes and Cyclones. My final assignment was the Geco Diamond in Mexico, although I still get to visit the boats occasionally

In September 2004 I took an office job at WesternGeco's Research and training centre just outside Oslo, Norway.

The Companies Concerned

If you're really interested (I wouldn't advise it), this is the company website (slb). The bit I worked for was sold and then turned into ShearWater.
